Transport technologies
Three transport modes. One Dataclone workflow.
Dataclone is the managed file transfer product. RMDT, RSDT and DMTP carry the payload for different topology and network-policy requirements.
Select RMDT, RSDT or DMTP for each transfer. RMDT and RSDT use UDP. DMTP is a manual TCP-based choice for paths where UDP data traffic cannot be used.
DMTP
Dexor’s Multi TCP Protocol for TCP-only paths, with TLS-protected transfer traffic.
Mode matrix
Compare foundation, topology, selection and protection
| Mode | Foundation | Topology | Selection reason | Protection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RMDT | UDP | One sender to one or many destinations | High-capacity WAN paths affected by latency, jitter and packet loss | AES-GCM |
| RSDT | UDP; RMDT family | Simultaneous bidirectional point-to-point | Two systems need to send in both directions | AES-GCM |
| DMTP | TCP | Point-to-point direct agent path | UDP is unavailable or not permitted | TLS with transfer-specific material distributed over the protected control channel |
Standard IP infrastructure
Use the IP infrastructure you already operate
RMDT and RSDT run over UDP; DMTP runs over TCP. All three use standard IP networking rather than a proprietary network fabric. Participating hosts and firewalls must permit the data ports selected in configuration.
Protection by path
Use the mechanism selected for the data path
Data-path protection
Dataclone uses AES-GCM for RMDT and RSDT transfer traffic. DMTP uses TLS. The selected transport and configuration determine the protection mechanism for the data path.
